Wednesday 5th December

Wednesday 5th December

I apologise I should have informed you all that son no 2 made it safely to BVI, his luggage meanwhile is in Barbados……!!!

Judging by the beautiful sunny photo he put up on Facebook, I don’t think he’s too bothered; he borrowed/bought, a pair of swim shorts that’s all he needs!!

I thought I’d not have to go near the hospital this week, but had to take son no 1 in this afternoon for removal of a wisdom tooth. (In between just had time to whizz to school to watch the Nativity…….!)

Knew I had to get back to hospital to collect him when I began receiving rambling texts from drug induced son, and upon arrival at the day room was informed by another patient that our son had kindly informed the whole room of our entire family history!!!

He sat in a tipped back chair with chocolate milk all over his mouth smiling inanely, ‘talking’ to the friendly nurse!! Fortunately he didn’t hurt himself sliding down the bannister or leaping over the barrier on the way out….reminded me of when he was little…. Without the drugs!!!

"Open wider," requested the dentist, as he began his examination of the patient. "Good God!" he said startled. "You've got the biggest cavity I've ever seen -- the biggest cavity I've ever seen." "OK Doc!" replied the patient. "I'm scared enough without you saying something like that twice." "I didn't!" said the dentist. "That was the echo."

Tuesday 4th December

Tuesday 4th December
Started the day with the hailstorm at 5.15am…..

Had a bracing walk with Jessie at 8.30am down at le Saie beach, a little rough out at sea!

Got back home just as the ‘Moth’ man arrived, we have resident ‘house’ moths that like to inhabit some of my kitchen cupboards, namely the flour/cereal cupboards. (Think they initially came out of hubby’s wallet- typical Jersey man, short arms and long pockets- or are they Guernsey men, I can never remember, anyway I digress….)

While he was shining his torch into the nooks and crannies of my kitchen…….. Mr Sparky came back, of which I was quite relieved, he hadn’t been put off by the enormity of the job, or the dog lying on him!

I whizzed off to my Zumba class (last one this term sadly), but I have signed up for next term of course!
Second dog walk in the woods and then a quick lunch before going into town for a fabulous reflexology hour with GB at Barannes…… spent some long overdue vouchers….. Wonderful!!

Reached a new low today....lovely lady (she was actually) at the till in M and S today said 'Hello Sir'!!, then quickly changed it to Madam! I said that's OK, easy mistake, I'm just glad I've got hair to which she replied "I really like it".... I thought.....stop there you could be digging yourself a hole!!!

Moths

A man and a woman meet at bar one day and are getting along really
well. They decide to go back to the woman's house where they engage in
passionate love making.
The woman suddenly cocks her ear and says, "quick my husband just got
home, go hide in the bathroom!" So the man runs into the bathroom.
Her husband comes up into the bedroom and looks at her. "Why are you
naked?" he asks.
Well, I heard you pull up outside, so I thought I would come up here
and get ready to receive you."
"Okay." the man replies "I'll go get ready."
He goes into the bathroom before his wife can stop him and sees a
naked man standing there clapping his hands.
"Who the devil are you?" the man asks
"I am from the exterminator company, your wife called me in to get rid
of the moths you are having problems with."
The husband exclaims, "But you are naked!"
The man then looks down and jumps back in surprise.
"Those little bu**ers!"

Monday 3rd December

Monday 3rd December

(A happy birthday to my mum, who is no longer with us, bless you mum).

I text son JL at 7.15am this morning partly to wish him ‘happy birthday’ but also to make sure he was standing in the queue at Gatwick airport! All seemed OK and he was……so when we had a text an hour later to say actually he had ‘discovered’ he was booked on flights that don’t exist!!!!! But don’t worry at no extra cost (!) he was booked on another flight that actually only had one stop rather than two……….We’ll wait and see later tonight when he has promised to text us again (if he has reached his destination). As for his return flights, who knows!!

A lovely friendly electrician turned up this morning to sort out our wiring/plugs/sockets/switches and lights (there is a lot to do!) and somehow we got chatting about house/car security. He regaled an event in Jersey concerning his wife who had just bought a brand new car. It’s one that you don’t need a key, just the fob and push button start. Anyway she parked up to nip into a shop for a loaf of bread and probably forgot to push the button to lock it. Four minutes later she returned to find a man sitting in her car helping himself to stuff! Well, at this point had it been me I would have probably done some ‘girlie’ screaming and panicked, but not her…………She simultaneously yelled, dragged him out of the car  by the scruff of the neck…… and ‘decked him’!!!

Popped into school today and grabbed a few big hugs from work colleagues- fantastic! Then took Jessie onto the beach where I came across SC and friend, as well as TF/LF. All of us walking dogs, Jessie took a shine to Baxter, and they chased each other crazily for half an hour. Jessie won on speed and agility, Baxter wasted his energy on barking!!!

Badminton this evening, won some lost some, but all good games.

Sunday 2nd December

Sunday 2nd December

Started off the day with my usual Sunday morning activities, dog walking and a ‘Keep Fit’ class, but unusually I cooked a roast dinner at lunchtime. Son no 2 was off to the UK and then the Caribbean for two weeks holiday, so I thought a hot lunch was a good idea (leeks and parsnips from the garden!)
Hubby and I met up with neighbours TH/SH for a dog walk/catch up and cup of tea afternoon, and very pleasant it was too.

Hard working son no. 3 came home at 4.45pm; Coopers Coffee at Castle Quay seems to get busier every Sunday, which of course is a good thing!

No hospital visits this week, a break from chemotherapy!! (I was told on Friday that chemo is ‘my friend’ and not the dreaded enemy which is often how I think!

Saturday 1st December

Saturday 1st December

I took Jess out for a long dog walk this morning, the weather was so mild, and the coast of France so clear, it was a real pleasure. Unfortunately I had to visit the supermarket afterwards, but needs must.

Hubby and I actually made it to the petanque pitch this afternoon; it was full of players which was really good to see. We only played a few games as we needed to buy compost bins….I know, exciting life we lead!!

We also decided at the last minute to go to the pub for supper, and somehow despite the fact we were only out of the house for barely two hours we returned to find it full of young people, some of them eating Chinese take aways!!
