Sunday 27th September

Did I really have a holiday? It does seem a long time ago now!

We arrived back home to find the squatters had moved in (that's Jack and Steph!) Bedrooms moved, furniture re-arranged and tomorrow they have enlisted Papa's help to build a 'wall" in the middle of our sitting room!!

We actually encouraged them to move in, only way they can start up some savings if they ever want to buy a house of their own someday- and I enjoy having them around.... more 'girl power' for Bex and I!!

Palma airport was a bit chaotic, and we did have to queue for an hour to check our bags in (which took three minutes(?) , and so we raced up to queue through security, all with the usual (necessary)palava that you have to go through. Steve was busy putting his ipad and phone in the tray, when i saw his wallet. "Put it back in your bag I muttered  fiercely, they don't need to scan that! A bit flustered as we were short on time by now, he stuck the wallet back inside the bag and took his belt off , the next minute I looked at him and he was unbuttoning his shirt. "What are you doing!" i couldn't believe my eyes. Talk about making a scene! He'd just didn't know what he was doing!!  By this time I was laughing hysterically, I can't print his response.

Monday night in Mallorca ....

Losing track of days, so really must be in holiday mode! Slipping into Mallorca life, late breakfasts, lunch and supper, it has been nice not to have to cook, shop, and clean etc, although I have to confess to missing my sport! contemplated jogging up and down steps this morning but coerced Steve into playing tennis and having a swim BEFORE breakfast !!!

loving the sunshine and long warm evenings, plus the beautiful sea. We really have found a lovely resort here. Although the hotel is full it doesn't feel too crowded, and we enjoy 'people watching' . The English are definitely in the minority ( which is not a bad thing!) but there are quite a few folks who 'stake' out their claim to sun beds , and as the majority of guests are German is doesn't take you long to work out who they are....we ( I ) am so tempted to race along and chuck the towels in the pool!!!

Wish I could post a few photos on here but it'll have to wait until I get back. We have hired a car for a few days so seeing quite a lot of the little towns and beaches ( accidentally found a nudist beach, yes it was an accident, Steve less than impressed with large overweight very old men, said he doesn't need to come to beach in Mallorca to see that, he just looks in mirror!!!!!)

Our Spanish is extremely poor, in fact after asking directions today I found myself thanking them in french, while Steve thanked them in Portuguese , no hope !

Our last day tomorrow.... Before we brace ourselves for the autumnal weather back home.

Thank you to all our 'dog walkers ' while we've been away and apparently things are running very smoothly at home without any persistent nagging.....excellent I say!!

"Holiday Post"

The title should read ' The hour I lost my passport'.... Or 'The holiday that nearly didn't happen'...

Finally, after four years, two elections ( husband, not me) two operations and two long sessions of chemo we felt a holiday pour deux persons was well overdue.
This explains a little as to why my brand new passport has not been in operation for sometime, all the recent UK trips were covered by my driving licence identification .

So there I was yesterday morning gradually filling up my suitcase and finding the little used sun tan lotion ready to pack, when I pulled out my passport from its usual place in the bureau and discovered to my utter dismay that it was the old one.....
Utter panic overtook me, 24 hours before we flew and no passport. I looked again, moved papers, searched drawers , in a somewhat strangulated voice I informed my aunt that she had to walk Jess as I had to find my passport....she then set about looking too, ( she's not to be trusted with the dog on her own, she gets lost in a supermarket ) .

Within an hour I had gone from mildly panicked to total meltdown, sobbing and fruitlessly looking in my daughters handbags(?) everybody's coat pockets (??) How could I be so stupid? Why wasn't is where I always keep it? I couldn't even remember when I last used it , although the photo was pre illness as I had long hair!
Fortunately Steve was home, and after looking through his papers and files and not finding it, walked towards the bureau and said calmly " is this it"? .

Being so pristine new it had stuck to the side of the shelf , and I had obviously only had a 'boy' look, such was my haste believing that I could only find the old passport.

By which stage I was an emotional wreck, written off my(our?) holiday and reconfirmed my place in the book of ' the stupidest person on the planet' .

On a positive note, my aunt found the instruction manual to the Panasonic combination microwave oven ( we still have 30years on) even if we haven't used it for 5 years and it is probably now more nuclear reactive and should have been disposed of twenty years ago!!!!

So, even with the dramas, we made it to Mallorca ....

Tried to post this last night but didn't work , taken photos off to try again!!!

Saturday 12th September

I have to start this blog thanking EVERYONE who came, ate and drank and donated cash at the tea party I held today at home. It was amazing, and I've had such a feel good vibe all afternoon.

We could never had managed without all the extra cakes and sandwiches made, plus a huge thank you to those of you who made tea, washed up and generally 'mucked in'.

It has been a fantastic afternoon, and I'm very pleased to say that we raised over £550, in fact we rounded it up to £600, this is an incredible amount!!

I have an on-line Ovacome donation page which has £270 on it, and with an extra bit for the Teal pin badges sold it has  brought the total to £884!!

THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!!!

Monday 7th September

Such a busy weekend, that I missed out on writing a blog post! So, to begin this one I first want to say a very big THANK YOU to those who have already donated on-line to my Ovacome page, especially JR and TH who set the ball rolling.... I dont even know their email or mobile so I couldn't text to say thank you properly!

Ok, so I can't remember what I did last weekend, Oh, it was bank holiday and the weather was rubbish! Think I cleaned out yet more cupboards/drawers etc. It's been a good summer for doing blitz indoor cleaning...and I spent some days "jellyfish dodging", a new sport I've taken up this summer.

Hubby and I spent Friday night on the Ecrehous at the  ImpĂ´ts (customs hut), luckily it was lovely weather and so incredibly peaceful.
Our taxi out and back!

 Low tide...

Early morning walk along the shingle...

 Selfies....
 Practicing !
 Last little bit of light....

Anyway, we arrived back on Jersey shore's at lunchtime for quick unpack, lunch etc before heading off to Jersey Live music festival ... I really wanted to see Clean Bandit, and on the Sunday George Ezra, both were brilliant.

In between all this happening in my life there is a lot going on in my friends lives, some good things some pretty awful things. I do think of those friends who are needing support often, and know they all have a strong network of family/friends , but a few prayers their way will help. I do often suggest Macmillan and know that anything said at the centre is in strict confidence.

Our support group met on Thursday and I had managed to get Arthur Lamy to give us a short walk/talk around St Helier, the guy is so knowledgable, and made it very interesting.

My eldest nephew turned Forty last week ....Forty!! Good grief, I think of him as being an annoying sixteen year old.
And, a friend is a very proud grandmother as her daughter gave birth to a son...who looks gorgeous.

Lastly, I drove into town to do some shopping and pulled into a small car park hoping to find a space, after trolling around slowly I looked sadly at the only space available, it was for a mini.........and then I realised I was actually driving a mini.... #blonde
