Friday 19th October
Having written a daily blog since February it’s been really
strange not to write anything these last three days!
So here goes the update… I saw my lovely Zumba ladies on
Tuesday, and we are now all proficient with ‘Ganghnam style’ dancing- check out
the You tube clip!
Also on Tuesday I was asked to play netball for the C team,
only half a game which was just right for me, and despite playing as GK my
least favourite position in the world (standing joke!) I really enjoyed it. The
girls were brilliant and they kept the ball up the attacking end most of the
time (and we subsequently won quite comfortably)
In between I met JN for lunch at Rondels, and very nice it
was too- I highly recommend it!
I did a very early dog walk Wednesday morning so I could be
at Les Ormes at 9am to play tennis! We had an excellent ladies match with MP,
AH and AE, and I did play a short match with other ladies afterwards.
Did you know that in Les Ormes car park for selected
customers only, you can pick up a complete takeaway meal in a cool bag? Chicken
and mushroom pie (x2) potatoes/carrots and purple sprouting broccoli- all pan
ready – PLUS an extremely large and extremely chocolaty cake!! That’s made you
all jealous hasn’t it? - It certainly was welcomed by me and the family (Huge
thanks to chef AH)
Drove back to St
Martin so I could take Jessie to the vet, fortunately daughter was all
prepared, as after the visit we planned to take her on the beach. Watching Jessie
run round in circles chasing seagulls was one of those ‘you need to have been
there moments’: Especially as she lapped
us three times, with the seagull tantalising close but obviously never going to
be caught.!
I decided that I couldn’t pass by the chance to play
badminton, and glad I went as had some good matches, but being sensible left
early…….
Thursday morning and after a long dog walk I headed to the
Merton for a Pilates class, had just enough time to sort the dog and have a
quick lunch before going into work (yes, really)This week it was skipping- with
4yr olds remember, I do like a challenge!!
Talking of which my daughter accompanied me to our weekly dog
training classes, glad it’s only for an hour, I am exhausted at the end of it, never mind the dog. If I wasn’t concentrating
on what I was doing I would psychoanalyse all the other owners! Amongst them we
have a beautiful lab/retriever called Elsa, another honey lab (who has a
constant frown, called Claude), a very small toy terrier called Dobby(!) and
another springer called MoJo!
So that brings us up to today, and it’s a rather special day,
my 27th Wedding anniversary!
This is the past photo.... |
Last year the 19th was an emotional day, the
island elections- hubby spent all day stood outside the parish hall!! The year
before on the 19th we had just boarded the Queen Mary, and spent five days
crossing the Atlantic to New York.
And this is the present photo.... |
Let’s just say I was a tad emotional today, I did think
after my initial diagnosis way back in February that I may not get to see my
birthday let alone my wedding anniversary (Dark days long gone).
Hubby had a meeting this morning, so I played an hour of
tennis at the club, before going to the hospital for my weekly blood test.
And…… It’s good news! I did tell Nurse RF that he was not to
burst my bubble of happiness today!
My haemoglobin is up to 11.0, the highest
it’s been since the beginning of May, the clotting platelets very good at 204,
and the white cells 2.2, (up from 1.7) even the neutrophils up to 0.99(from
0.58).
Buoyed up by that good news I bounded back home to get in my
glad rags as hubby and I were going to Longueville Manor for a late lunch.
I must say a big thank you for flowers and card from Jdlh, a
bay tree and card from Pdlh, and a lovely chrysanthemum from N&P, plus lots
of cards and good wishes- thank you everyone.
Update on Monday......!!
