Saturday 6th September 2014

As a "traditional" Microsoft man, I am having to slowly get to know the whys and wherefores of this Macbook Pro....so, I have fired it up, and eventually have also negotiated my way to the Blog without too much "assistance" from the sofa...a couple of curt "do this", "push that", "click there"...and we're in!!

Apparently the highlight of today is the fact that, for the first time in so many days we can't remember, the closest we have been to a hospital is our vegetable patch. That doesn't mean we haven't been in touch....wouldn't want them to think we'd forgotten what they sound like....we have probably had at least three calls from various nurses and consultants...but it's really reassuring that they are looking after us from afar. They still keep saying "come in if you want to"......excuse me?....want to? Can you remember the last time you "wanted" to go to hospital? In all seriousness though, it's so reassuring that we can literally "go in anytime".... and that someone on the ward will see us....even if they are struggling to work out what exactly is going on in Jill's nether regions (does our reader think I'll get away with that description?...doubtful at best I suspect) .... but I could use more "agricultural" language.

I mentioned the vegetable patch.... Jill actually picked the runner beans for supper this evening....and then topped and tailed them (or whatever chefs do) ...my contribution was to try my best to forget that there were jacket potatoes in the Aga....and an attempt at trying to make various leftovers sound appealing to those who were still here to eat...a couple of astute boys had "conveniently" organised eating out when they saw me cooking (if you can call it that). Anyway, those of us here enjoyed a good and hearty meal...Jill especially...and it was good to have her join us at the table...if only for a few minutes.

Another addition at the table this evening was Tim, Jill's little brother from Lowestoft....he arrived this afternoon for the week. In typical fashion Jill had him working in the garden before his suitcase had even got as far as his bedroom.....just a casual mowing of the lawn, and trimming of the edges...and picking up all those apples, pears and plums that have fallen in the last week or so.....I suspect he will be secretly looking at the Flybe website this evening to see if there a plane home before next Saturday...but bad luck Tim, they only fly to Norwich on a Saturday! There's no doubt that Jill is pleased to see Tim, if only to top up her East Anglia accent... we struggle to understand her at the best of time...add her hometown accent and it's a physical impossibility.

Many thanks to the usual suspects (outside of the family) for exercising Jessie today....she is being spoilt almost as much as Jill .... and has certainly not been walked by so many different people before. It was just as Jill was starting to recover from chemo, two years ago, that Jessie became part of our family...I'm going to be really "techie" and see if I can upload a photo of the dog asleep....with Jill giving Tim a list of ALL the jobs he has lined up tomorrow....hopefully the photo will appear now....

well....my name isn't David Bailey...what were you expecting?

Right...medical details....difficult to find anything new in the way of problems really...still some "leakage" (I know it doesn't sound nice, but we're just after nine and children should be in bed, so I think I'll get away with it)...and Jill finds that her legs and bottom are a little "wider".... easy to notice when you started off so slim ....but none of us see an issue.....she must be improving if she's bothered about a small increase in her trouser measurement....it's never bothered me in the past....and my trousers have been increasing in size for years. I personally wonder if all this talk of clothing is a veiled attempt to get me to take Jill to town on a shopping expedition... lucky for me that late night opening was Thursday!

In order to stop her issuing orders I think I'll hand over the laptop for the Grand Finale to this evening's contribution...like that we can all have a few minutes peace and quiet...

Starting with Thanks, for more flower deliveries, and folks dropping in briefly for a quick chat and many offers of help... and lots of good wishes- all appreciated.

I am going  into hospital tomorrow , my fentanyl patch runs out, and no doubt i'll notice it straight away, plus they want to look at me and my current 'issues'. I also feel like the michelin man, the amount of fluid that has seeped into my legs, i now have a definite waddle going on... anyway drugs taken, injection administered I'm now off to bed... thinking of my friends enjoying their 30th wedding celebrations in true party style......
