Wednesday evening 10th. September

Well, here we are again...and the house is so much quieter this evening. Pete and Donnas have departed for La Belle France to go golfing for three days...and the four remaining boys (Tim, Tom, Jack and Dan) have all gone fishing...leaving Bex, Jill et moi at home. It appears that we have had another reasonable day....Jilly went for a walk down to Fliquet this morning, the first time she's done that for while...Jill, Tim and Jessie were picked up by car to make the return trip, but it's great that she got out and about. We have an appointment at the Hospital tomorrow morning with the oncology department. Blood tests will be taken, and if all goes well I expect that a possible date will be set for the first chemo session....but we'll be able to update you with more chemo info tomorrow evening.....after those noisy planes have all gone home.

Tim is still here (he leaves Saturday) and he went with Jack and Dan to do the pots this morning... it must have been a bit rough .... and they had another three lobsters. If this lobsterfest keeps up I am sure that the bartering will start soon....how many cases of Peroni can we cope with do you think? In another hour they will be returned from this evening's fishing trip...but I suspect that it may well be fruitless...these big tides rarely yield big catches. Bex and I left Jill to have a rest in front of the telly as we popped down to Gorey to see the tide....not as stormy as it might have been, which in reality is a big relief...we don't need any more damage this year thank you.

The big news this evening has to be that no one has been thrown out of "Bake Off"....Bex and I got back just in time....but then, didn't we say that there would have to be programme like this to compensate for two of them leaving at once.... at least we know that  there's very little chance of ice cream wars in this house....it gets eaten so quickly we don't have time to argue about who's put it in the fridge and who's taken it out to melt.

The medical news is that that general swelling doesn't seem hugely improved today...indeed, Jill appears to have been in a little "discomfort" earlier today...drugs were taken...and shortly after things improved slightly. I'm taking Jill to oncology tomorrow myelf, so I will able to hear exactly what is said....I hope that, apart from talking "chemo", they may be able to give us some helpful hints about lymphatic fluid....I know Jill would be mighty pleased to find a way to reduce some of this swelling....

We all know that chemo is something that we have to get on with, regardless of how much we might hate the thought....but the quicker we start the quicker we finish.....and the quicker we can get back to doing all those things we've missed so much in the last three weeks. At least when we have a date we can start planning for the future....More again tomorrow...
