Wednesday late afternoon.....

Steve here...making the most of (hopefully) my last opportunity to blog for a while. As I type Jilly is lying on the sofa opening all her mail from the last fortnight....the first real chance we've had to do "normal" things since our return from the Marsden. Today has been a slight improvement as days go....Jill is home, and feels so good about being able to get some sunshine...and order us all around. She returned from the hospital with drugs to be administered as and when....I know Tom says to never refuse free drugs, but we probably have more drugs here now than your average small South American country....I won't relate the complete list, but let's just say we have all bases covered. Bex has made up a proper drugs chart...it's just like a proper little hospital here .....and I wouldn't be surprised if one of us has to go on a course to learn how to make sure we get everything in the right order. We even have a liquid based morphine product....but only to be used if really required....I'll have to remind the boys that a "stressy day at work" doesn't qualify you for a couple of quick swigs when no one is looking. Apart from getting Jill home, the other highlight of the day has been making sure our branchage has been finished for tomorrow and picking some runner beans for supper tonight...after picking, trimming and chopping I can see why there's always a queue in the food hall at M&S every lunchtime. Courgettes as well this evening, along with home grown tomatoes and cucumber....our efforts in the vegetable garden are continuing to pay dividends as we move into the start of autumn......

Supper has now been completed...Jack returned from doing his pots with a 3lb. Lobster ...so plenty of protein there for Jill...Jill is on form already....a rocket for me for frying the courgettes on the top of the aga...apparently everyone knows that you fry that sort of thing in the aga, not on it....I now have instructions as to how to clean up the mess I have made from the spitting pan....it's already been suggested that maybe Jill could have stayed in town! The boys have spotted the morphine medicine...and already some vain attempts to find an excuse to use it...stubbed toes, scratched arms, sore backs...there's even an effort to see if a drop could be put in coffee.

This evening will be interesting....will Jill behave? She's not the greatest patient at home, if only because she likes having her own way, especially in the kitchen, and especially if it's anything to do with her beloved aga....I'm going to hand over now...there's about to be words because there is football on one channel and bake off on the other....he she is..

Firstly, once again a huge thank you to so many of you that have provided love, support, prayers and encouragement, as well as the practical side of food/cake and other nourishments.

I am so pleased to be home, as it's been a busy day... Not helped by a fairly dreadful night of pain again. I think I will have more energy to post a better blog tomorrow of today's events and the possible plan we have to aid my recovery.

Lastly, and without sounding too sickly sweet, I want to thank my husband, ( not just for the blog posting!) but for the unwavering, love and support he has given me, I truly don't think I could have coped without him. ( he'll be embarrassed now, so blame the morphine I'm on.....)

As for the technical details of today, I'll leave
