We have no idea when “our reader” will see this next
post.....we are having internet “issues” this evening. That’s pretty rich
seeing as “he who knows everyone and everything now he is a States Member” went
to a meeting with Jersey Telecom this evening before coming home. It was a
“catch up” for JT to explain how things went wrong back before
Christmas....you’ll have seen that they have had a “bit of a problem” with
people being paid to “sit at home”.....while JT continued to pay the bill.
Anyway, so much for fibreoptic cables (which we don’t have yet.....) .....our
connection to the outside world is NOT working this evening. We know where this
is heading......especially as he who needs the internet for his “work” will
very shortly be entering new levels of stress. When you think that not very
many years ago we didn’t have laptops and smartphones.......how did we survive?
This blog will be posted up into the ether and who knows when it will appear
for “our reader” to look at?
Family activity today was fairly normal.....Bex had another
two interviews (the girl doesn’t need a job....she spends all day going to
interviews....when would she have time to work?), Jack was back off night
shift, Barista Boy had a “lunchtime shift”....Mum had dog duties interspersed with
various sport/fitness activities, Tom was mooching around waiting a) for the
internet to return and b) waiting for Real Madrid to arrive in
Manchester.....and Dad had a series of “1 hour meetings scattered all over the
island”.....there was no chance of him saving the planet today.....the amount
of diesel he burned!
Tomorrow evening’s discussion will no doubt be dominated by the
States.....it’s a “States Day”. We know what the subject will be....the Police
Station. Dad has co-authored a report (published last week) that has been
rubbished by certain other politicians today. He’s not overly impressed.....but
apparently that’s normal (so he’s told)......without question there will
opinions offered when he gets home.
Before we go......we started today with one of our builders
having “a bit of a problem with his van” in our yard first thing. Said builder
was changing tyres, pulling out a very dented wing, and generally trying to
repair his van. It turns out that he had demolished a very large section of our
neighbours wall while negotiating a bend up the road.....well actually NOT
negotiating would be a better phrase. He had apparently just come around the
bend when his cup of coffee “jumped out of the cup holder and poured itself all
over his lap”. Unsurprisingly, this caused him to veer suddenly to the right
and into said wall.........there’s no doubt that he hit the wall (it’s
completely demolished) but whether the cup of hot coffee was actually in the
holder is anyone’s guess. He’s seen the owner ...and the insurance is taking
over.....lucky he’s a builder!!
Serves him right for drinking and driving. Will Cooper's have to start printing safety advice on takeaway cups?
ReplyDeleteHmmm, you wouldn't want to rush a Coopers coffee!
