I tried to escape the fog that descended on the island this morning by heading out west to visit SW, but sadly it followed me all the way, and though it didn't spoil our dog walk across the dunes, there were times when we weren't entirely sure which way we were facing!!
A necessary trip to a supermarket on the way home, as cooking a main meal for 12 tomorrow evening, fortunately sis-in-law is providing the starter and dessert, so a 'team effort'.
Hubby and I made the most of the sunshine this afternoon and started off at the Village Green where we played a few games of Pentanque, before doing some 'heavy duty' gardening. This involves him armed with secateurs and shears, basically pruning anything that dares to move. Never mind I'm sure they'll grow again, or we'll end up at the garden centre next weekend buying new stock!!
This time last year I had just done my last day at work, and was due on the 11th to fly to London for my operation.....
A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then, so you can understand if I am a touch emotional this weekend, what with Mothering Sunday and all.....
as you walk down the street.
She's the smell of bleach in
your freshly laundered socks.
She's the cool hand on your
brow when you're not well.
Your mother lives inside
your laughter. She's crystallized
in every tear drop...
She's the place you came from,
your first home.. She's the map you
follow with every step that you take.
She's your first love and your first heart
break....and nothing on earth can separate you.
Not time, Not space...
Not even death....
will ever separate you
from your mother....
You carry her inside of you....
