Wednesday 19th December
Was walking the dog by 7.45am this morning, waiting for daylight- bring on the shortest day and lets move on please!
Drove out to Les Ormes for a mini tennis tournament, I had an absolutely brilliant time, a lovely partner and some great rallies and games. Somehow I came away with a large chocolate cake that had nothing to do with the tournament..... thanks AH!!
Impressed the Oncology department by being on time- that's twice in one week.......check me out!!
Thought I was having chemo, but apparently just a blood test as Thursday is my due day, so it follows onto next Thursday and not 'boxing day' when the department is understandably shut!!!
Good news is that my white cells are up to 5.2 and neutrophils up to 3.84, bad new, clotting platelets down again to 32. Real cause for concern and poor Dr H got 'paged' to come up to the unit and talk to me AGAIN! Soooooo, I am back to the ward tomorrow and will have another blood test, with the view (unless the platelets have dropped to below 30), I have chemo.... if they sit at 30 then poor Dr H will bang his head against the wall! (I'll join him). Obviously if they are below, no chemo, then we have to come up with another plan...
While all this was going on my aunt was told her flight was cancelled, and she was put up in a rather nice hotel in Stansted with the view to try again tomorrow!
Despite all this I have been quite upbeat today, made two new 'friends' at the hospital and feel positive about things generally.
Walked Jess around Queens Valley in the fading light at 4.15pm- surprisingly we had the place to ourselves!
Stayed in and wrapped presents and did more chores this evening instead of badminton, thought I'd had enough exercise in one day!!
“Blessed are they who have the gift of making friends,
for it is one of God's best gifts. It involves many things, but above
all, the power of going out of one's self, and appreciating whatever is
noble and loving in another.”
Thomas Hughes
P.S 374 page views on blog yesterday- highest ever I think.... and no its not my aunt pressing the same button 300 times thank you !!!
