Well….what a difference a day makes (24 little hours…skys above….oh
shut up, enough singing) …..okay, so waking up to a cloudless sky is
something we haven’t done for a while…she who thinks she should be in
charge of the garden started early by suggesting that the lawns needed
mowing….the lawn mower man put her straight immediately…..surely there
were other priorities??
Something that he IS thinking about is
Thursday….the dreaded V day! Last year (for obvious reasons) there
wasn’t much fun and laughter around on 14th Feb. and promises were made
that 2013 would be a day to make up for lost time…..now the poor old man
has to see if he can find a suitable venue for a romantic meal for
two….he’s already had the suggestion of a fry up at St. Catherine’s Café
turned down with some rather colourful language, although many of us
couldn’t see the problem (especially the dog) ….no doubt he’ll think of
somewhere suitable.
The father and sons 1 and 2 decided to light a
bonfire and have a big clear up in the yard…all went really well until
mid-afternoon when the wind changed direction…..we have now have had to
put up with a house full of plastic fumes all over supper time…so much
for having the fireman supervise the event…anyway, while they were
setting fire to the entire contents of the yard, her ladyship had taken
things into her own hands and was mowing the lawn…right at the end of
the afternoon she came back in and dog (who had been chasing those
fluttering embers that come out of bonfires all afternoon) spotted the
open door and bolted for the garden. In the time it took to say “who’s
let the dog in the garden”, Jessie had dug a hole in the lawn “the size
of that melon in the fruit bowl” (well, that’s how large it was
described as we were eating supper)…no doubt the dog is getting our own
back for us not allowing people to say hello to her when they arrive.
Other
discussion subjects were “what is actually the difference between
broccoli and calabrese?” and why has the Pope decided to
retire…..actually, it was suggested that he’s not really retiring, he’s
just giving it up for lent!!
I see that we now have horse meat in
Tesco Bolognese……the cows in the field opposite out house are not
happy….I heard one say to another yesterday, “bloomin’ French horses,
coming over here, stealing our jobs!”
Dad has his weekly French
lesson at 8 tomorrow morning…..and as usual, he hasn’t done his
homework…..as we all told him, it’s just like being back at
school…however, we doubt that he’ll get expelled this time.
Friday’s
bookcase (the one that M and D bought on Saturday) is getting more
intriguing by the day…we have now been told that it will be a 3 person
job to go to get it……what’s it made of, lead?
Dad has bought a
digger….. it’s only small (as the actress said to the etc. etc.) but
perfectly formed…..no seriously, the hope is that we can start to
reshape some of the paths around our meadow. We just hope that no one
finds out…it’ll be just too embarrassing to have a States Member in
court for “environmental infractions”…..
