Sunday 17th February

It appears that this blog has an editor….that is, if “she who must always be obeyed” doesn’t like what’s been put up for publication then the “unapproved text” gets withdrawn. Yesterday it was a passage about the bonfire…..but seeing as repeating it again will probably lead to the same result I’m wondering why I even bothered to tell of our “little problem”….it’s okay, the world’s not going to end if you don’t find out.
Many of you that know “building” will understand what’s meant by a “cat slide roof”….those sloping roofs that are usually over dormer windows….well, we have another version here at Seaford. If a car gets left a little too close to the single storey building outside our back door then it’s just possible for Billy Bob to jump on to the roof of said building from roof of said car….from which he can get on to the roof of the main house. It’s then quite simple to literally sit outside Ma and Pa’s bedroom window and howl until he’s let in for his breakfast. At 05:27 this morning this didn’t go down well…..Mum apparently told Dad to ignore him, but with the cat’s face pressed firmly against the glass he could spot every movement….leading to reinvigorated howling. Eventually the old man got up….and on starting it’s way down the roof, the cat lost it’s footing on the wet tiles….and slid right down and off the end of the roof, landing conveniently outside the back door…. Just ready to be let in for a “boot up the backside” and bowl full of whatever the cat gets given by Dad every morning…..cars are being moved this evening. The cat will have to work a lot harder to get up there tomorrow morning.
Mum and Dad took Jess for a long walk this morning….with Dad setting the route. Somehow after an hour or so the path went just in front of the Breakwater Café….a stop had to be made, if only to say hello….and have the usual. The dog didn’t take any persuasion to go in…promptly bounding up to an Alsatian (that was being fed bits of sausage by its owner)…..the Alsatian was not happy about the prospect of having to share its “Full English”, and immediately started barked loudly…..waking a small baby that was asleep in a pram at the next table. The next 5 minutes was spent with barking dog and crying baby….and with the triathlon going on outside (bikes and runners going in all directions) there was certainly lots happening!!! Ice cream sales were fantastic yesterday apparently….a sure sign that things are getting better weather wise.

More clearance this afternoon in the bottom yard….and 2 cars ready for the dump tomorrow….if a certain little lady is reading this from Australia then “say a prayer for your old red Nissan….it’s going to the scrap yard in the sky tomorrow”…..and please stop posting those photos of your new work place..we know what clear skies, warm water, golden beaches and lovely boats look like…..we don’t need reminding….and we’re NOT “wel jel” at all….not much!

Back to work for most of us tomorrow… but the Fireman gets a break after two night shifts….he can sort out the cars with Big Brother (when he decides to wake up)…..at least a couple more days dry to come…so by the time we get to the end of this week will may have a very smart yard…..all cleared ready for some more rubbish to arrive during the summer! It needs to be finished this week as we’re getting the first little signs of boys getting “fed up with clearing this bloomin’ yard”…….roll on Easter.
