Thursday 14th February

Well…..it seems that, when it comes to not being properly prepared and not paying enough attention, the Old man has taken the Gold Medal….. the Silver Medal and the Bronze as well. His Valentine’s Card to his beloved wife started with the words “To my wonderful Girlfriend” …..uummmm.   Just as well that, for the first time that anyone can remember, he is taking Mum out this evening….and not, apparently, to St. Catherine’s CafĂ©…..
The Student has cooked supper this evening (some rather exciting noodle dish involving beef and chicken…but of course it could be just about anything….and we haven’t seen so many horses on the roads today!!)….1 and 2 were home….but going out after (and probably before doing the washing up)… Barista Boy is taking someone out, but because it was rather unplanned (and his invitation was given a little tongue in cheek) there was discussion about whether he had the nerve to suggest “going Dutch”!!......on boy, when it comes to the “males of Seaford”, it seems that the age of chivalry is not quite dead… but it must be mighty close!!
Did you know that today is also St. Cyril’s Day……we’ve got bets on the Pops didn’t know that either…..how unlucky, having ”your day” on Valentine’s….as the joke goes…..”Jesus must have been so disappointed to have been born on Christmas Day”!!!
The first laugh of the day came as we were watching the weather forecast (as opposed to watching the weathergirl) on TV this morning…… it seems that Muddiford were expecting floods today……we did have a little chuckle.
Dad’s fizog is all over page 2 of the JEP this evening…. The Fireman asked if it would be possible for Dad to get his glasses any further down his nose….. The report says that Dad is going to be “grilling Philip Ozouf” about the proposed Innovation Fund Proposals next week…..that a shame that it’s actually Alan Maclean that is having the meeting with Dad……good old JEP…. never let the truth get in the way of a good story!!!
We have cows in our field…..they have miraculously appeared during the day. This means that the dog has something to bark at (she doesn’t bark at anything else that we know of) …..that’s in between chewing her rope…unbelievably she has made very little impression on said rope so far….
While we’re talking about animals….it has been decided that we ARE going to get our pigs for the meadow….but NOT “normal” pigs (could we do anything normally?) …..these are Kune Kune Pigs…bred in New Zealand, they are very friendly and pretty tame….the best bit about them is that they don’t dig up the grass, but eat it just like cows…..The Ex Farmer has been rabbiting on (excuse the pun) about these bloomin’ pigs for a long time now….and has finally found a way to get hold of some. Apparently they will be making an appearance later on this summer….can we wait?
The Engineer has been using one of the other “attachments” on his new drill…the digger now has the cab removed…..and it was a “real big job” to take it off apparently…..oh, the joys of taking things to pieces….by the time the new parts have arrived there won’t be a machine left to fit them to!
Friday tomorrow….bring on the weekend….and no rain in the forecast, according to that lovely girl on the weather….maybe it’s time to think about the garden and vegetable plot……but only “think”….we’re not so silly as to actually do anything!!
Check out the puppy on blog SC from Gorey.... ;-)
