Sunday 10th February

If you had to try to guess which day of the week it was by using the name as a clue then you wouldn’t have thought it was SUNday would you….. what appalling weather….we even had a flock of ducks sheltering in our kitchen….they said it wasn’t really weather for ducks and now that we had some heating could they just “chill for a few hours”…..

The dog is having an identity crisis…..we have put a sign on the door asking visitors to ignore her when they arrive (this is so she stops jumping up)….but we haven’t told the dog that so we think that maybe she now thinks we don’t love her. This afternoon the student and the netballer took her for a walk on the Breakwater….only to have her run off, sit outside the café and then, when someone opened the door, belt inside and hide under a chair. We suspect that dad’s early morning trips down there for “coffee” may in fact involve food as well…….bacon rolls for the dog maybe??

No.’s 1 and 2 post grad people were both away for supper tonight… so conversation concentrated on Ski Sunday (well we can all dream I suppose). One question that was posed was “do you think these guys can just, like, “cruise” a black run?”….the answer was, “yes probably, and with only one ski and no poles while eating a Panini and drinking beer from a very awkward shaped bottle”…….Mum asked the Old Man if he’d go skiing again, and the answer was that he might……we weren’t sure if that meant “yes, we might go at Easter” or “yes, he might go if Mr. Scott beamed him up and dropped him at the ski lift and he didn’t have to actually put up with the travelling to get there”….also in the “very worrying” department was TomToots hovering out his car this morning….what’s going on there… the end of the world maybe? Those of you who now us also know that we take cars to pieces and we rebuild them, we break them and mend them, we bend them and straighten them….but we DON’T hoover them.

The Barista Boy came home asking if there was any chance that the States might give him some money for a “project” that him and a mate had come up with…….that’s almost more worrying than No. 1 and his new drill set (he’s still spending time every day outside drilling “stuff”)….I suppose we live in hope that the project involves travelling off Island for long periods of time, and that he actually finds someone who’s gullible enough to fork out the cash!

It’s half term this week so not a lot going on that we know of….it looks like the highlight might be next Friday and involve picking up a bookcase that M and D bought yesterday….hope you can all cope with the excitement!

Most adults, unlike most children, understand the difference between a book that will hold them spellbound for a rainy Sunday afternoon and a book that will put them in touch with a part of themselves they didn't even know existed.

  1. Blue Islands do direct flights (for skiing) to Geneva, Chambery & Zurich. Thought I should give them a plug as they very kindly took hubby and I to Amsterdam on their inaugural direct flight last week and excellent service it was too.
