Wednesday...GBBO Finals night

Someone has made the mistake of emptying a large box of Cadbury's Roses into a bowl and leaving said chocolates on the table in the middle of our kitchen....what is one to do? I've already managed to munch my way through any that have that lovely purple colour in the wrapper...you know the ones, brazil nuts in a curvy shape, and then hazelnuts in a shell shape etc. etc. all covered in lovely Cadbury's Chocolate....bang goes the diet...and I'd managed to really lose some weight over the summer...mainly because I haven't been eating those small, but oh so calorific, States Members sandwiches. We have lots of lunchtime meetings, and (as everyone knows) if you don't offer food at your lunch break get together then no one turns up.....as they say...a way to a politicians heart is through his stomach...and mine will be size of a small country by the end of the week....even in the last minutes I've finished the "purples" and have started on some rather attractive turquoise ones...a little chewy, but still very edible. Oh dear....let me loosen my belt a notch before I continue.

As I type, the two girlies are both sat on their individual sofas watching the main event of the week....yes, it's the final of bake off this evening. ...and, to be fair, I am watching myself in between typing this evening's post. Who will be victorious? Richard, the BIG favorite has already delivered the first shock by coming last of the three in the "technical" section......it's all a mystery to me I'm afraid... opening a bag of flour is technical enough...but we do enjoy watching....would be nicer to be tasting though!

I've decided that, just to add a little flavour (notice the influence of the bake off as I type) to my blogging by adding a little history, and local history at that. I have to say that I hated history at school, but nowadays I get great enjoyment from books about our Jersey past....so....here's the first of probably a string of little known snippets from Jersey's archives. Did you know that on this day in 1924 the Island experienced force 11 gales, with the accompanying rain flooding many buildings. Concern was expressed about the SS Reindeer, which was en route to the Island, but she appeared in St Aubin's Bay despite mountainous seas. Her 100 passengers were said to "not look too bad" considering the crossing.

Does anyone want to know anything about what the family got up to today? Well, as I drove into town this morning with Bex I had to ask myself, was it national "get up late day"? The reason was that I had got up late...rushed around and managed to leave on time at 07:35...but as we approached Five Oaks we were saying "where is everyone?"...we continued down Mont Millais...still no cars...and only when we reached Colomberie did we encounter the first stoppage...what was going on? where were the cars? did someone offer everyone free trips on the buses this morning and forget to tell us?

As for the other members of the household....well Jill spent the morning achieving lots of things, but no sport, so by the time we got to mid afternoon she was getting twitchy...a quick run around the meadow with Jess was required prior to entertaining a very good friend KM from St. Peter...swopping stories about chemo, and discussing strange recipes for "special" anti-cancer foods was an hour or so very well spent....and SO good to see K looking so well. We also had the estate agent around this afternoon to take photos of our cottage....it's only taken about 9 months longer than I'd planned to get to the stage of letting, but we're just about there now. With luck we'll have Seaford Cottage rented out in the next few weeks....someone will be lucky and start living alongside us....let's hope they can cope with us.....we're hardly what would be described as your average family!!

Jill spent an hour playing badminton this evening....so if you're worried that she didn't get any activity today then fear not.

Tomorrow is chemo 1.....hopefully just an hour or so at the hospital.....but no doubt our reader will hear all about it from the horses mouth tomorrow....if I'm allowed to say that!
