Saturday 31st March

Saturday 31st March
Had two surprise visitors yesterday bearing gifts of an ‘all ginger’ variety, things to eat, things to drink and things to put on your body, so that’s every angle covered! (Thanks!!)
A good lent lunch and many hugs received as well as a flavoursome soup (I can’t type a jersey accent, but imagine the emphasis on the word soup please).
Chauffeur daughter takes me to the hairdresser where I put my trust totally in her hands(and scissors), of course she did an excellent job, remember there is only so much one can do with the material one is given (You can’t make a silk purse out of a pigs ear).
Spent a very pleasant two hours drinking tea and catching up with a good friend in Gorey, and I’m afraid to say we didn’t even cover HALF of our news, so that’s to be continued…..
Such a talented artist at the exhibition last night felt we could have seen more as a smallish display, still in a very grand setting in New Street, followed that by a pizza tea (which didn’t seem quite fitting!)
Received yet another scrummy basket of goodies yesterday, this time CHOCOLATE!!  Thanks ‘clan’ Good grief it feels like Christmas every day :-)
I.T Manager (aka daughter) sorted me out with joining Race For Life, forming a group and then putting it out on FB, decided to play safe with group name(!) and already the response I’ve had is brilliant. Even non-sporty friends have signed up to it !!
Did loads of jobs with hubby this morning, and then bought some meat and veg so I/we can cook a roast tomorrow night. We both enjoyed a lovely walk (not stroll) around Queens Valley this afternoon before we did some gardening duties.
I was going to put some photos up of new short haircut, but you’ll have to wait till tomorrow as I.T girl is out and they’re on her phone! Family is in agreement that while it was necessary it doesn’t really suit me!! Oh well, It’s much cooler when I have the ‘hot flushes!’

Friday 30th March

Friday 30th March
I would like to enter the ‘Race for Life’ on the 27th May, no idea if I will be able to walk/run or even turn up on the day , but wondering if there are any ‘ladies’ on my blog who fancy doing it with me?
I’ve not looked into it in any great detail yet but I could do a ‘group booking’, I think it may be about £15 per person to enter, anyway if there are any interested takers give me a ring, or e mail over the next few weeks and I’ll get my I.T. girl onto it !
Son no 1 gave me a few blog ‘tips’ late last night , hence the random ‘you tube’ clip, my aim is to try and put photos / or clips or at least try and make things a bit more interesting than my ramblings!
House work jobs this morning before lent lunch, then ‘THE BIG HAIRCUT’ although I don’t think I’ll go to drastic, won’t recognise myself! Meeting friend for coffee this afternoon and then a preview of an art exhibition at 5pm with hubby, followed hopefully with supper in town- whoa! ;-)
Enjoy weekend and long may the sun shine for you! (Unless you’re a farmer/grower and need the rain!)

lesson In blogs from Son no 1 - Enjoy!!

Thursday 29th March

A lovely start to the day, a friend with chocolate cake! Joint effort to hang the washing on the line, and then chatting and coffee- perfect!
Popped into school, so good to see so many smiling faces (staff as well as children, although that could be because they knew I wasn’t coming back!!)
Another kind friend collected me from home for my appointment with two different ‘wig’ ladies, there is so much to  learn about wigs, believe me you lot don’t know the half of it!
Have decided on two wigs, one with long black straight hair, and the other a kind of ‘Mary Portas’ look…………..JOKE!!
They did say I could have a complete change, but don’t think I could cope with my husband not talking to me- actually I’ve found a ‘niche’ in the ‘wig’ marketing as there is NOT ONE WIG that is anywhere CLOSE to my hair!!!! What does that tell you! NO comments please.

Had some lovely flowers yesterday delivered (Many thanks) and the In-laws keep bringing constant supplies of food and good wishes.
Chauffeur this afternoon kindly made a very delicious beef casserole for tea tonight, AND for starter we had scallops that had been dropped off by a friendly neighbour- how good was that?!
Pleased we bought outside tables and chairs last year, I am making full use of them, and appreciating the beautiful scent of the baskets of hyacinths I had previously been sent- thanks again everyone !

Wednesday 28th March

Wednesday 28th March
What a beautiful day and I really did make the most of it! A St Ouen-a made the journey over to the east to take me and two small ‘cherubs’ to Archirondel beach, of course neither of us had checked the tides! Needless to say at 10.30am there wasn’t much beach; however it’s amazing what you can do with stones, water and a few buckets!! It was so lovely to see them enjoying themselves and of course us catching up with news and coffee!
Of course I had the next stage of my days agenda sorted, and another friend, (this one from St Lawrence so not as far to come), duly arrived to buy me lunch(!) Such a perfect setting and a tasty tuna baguette, thanks!
A gentle scenic walk in the direction of St Catherine's breakwater, where we had to stop for more refreshments before the amble back to the car.
After all that excitement I needed a lie down, but couldn’t resist doing a little ‘light’ weeding in the garden as the evening was still so warm and pleasant,(and son no 2 came to help).
Had a special delivery today from( ‘What- no eggs?!’) friend of 3 very beautiful sun hats, that I have to say look rather fetching, and I am sure will be put to great use during chemo possibly teamed with a matching bandanna!
My appointment with the oncology doctor is not happening tomorrow; they rang to say they have no clinic on Thursday this week, but have booked me in for Monday at 2.20pm
Following the advice of Macmillan and my doctor I am going to see two ladies tomorrow afternoon about wigs, but before that I am popping into school to see ‘my children’ whilst I still look like ‘me’, not wanting to scare them later on, where there is a strong possibility that they could mistake me as a witch (and there is already at least one of those in my department!!) LOL

Tuesday 27th March

Tuesday 27th March
Have decided that on-line food shopping is more tedious than actual shopping! Hard to believe I know, but it took me 3 days to put an order in last week, and this week I was bored by the time I’d logged in- either that or I now have the concentration span of a goldfish , no comments on that please!
Another lovely day, and ‘my chauffeur’ friend kindly took me for a jaunt around Queen’s valley, (bumped into my school’s day trip! that was nice to see some of the little children!). A short shopping trip around the Garden Centre, where I saw a few more neighbours/friends, completed my morning. I did enjoy it, and of course had to take a well-earned nap in the sun this afternoon!
I discovered on my return that yet another food angel had been and delivered a delicious Victoria sandwich cake- so sorry to have missed you, and thank you very much :-) xx
Luckily I have more than one friend……… and was fortunate enough to get another little outing to the supermarket this afternoon, I just walked about with the ‘gun’ zapping stuff, and she loaded up the trolley, had decided that I couldn’t face doing the on-line shop after all!!
That same friend had also made a scrummy cottage pie for tea, so once again I had the ‘strenuous’ job of serving tea to the family, I really could get used to this……
Read something today, ‘Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain’.

Monday 26th March

Monday 26th March
Half way through the dreaded injections……sure it’s actually worse for the hubby to administer than it is for me to bite my lip and take it, thank goodness he can , it would be a real inconvenience for someone to come out every day and have to do them.
Had 3 lovely friends visit this morning, good old chin wag and a laugh, particularly when a lady visitor with a large bag gets shown into the house by hubby, not entirely sure what she’s on about, but thinking it may be ‘medical’ as she asked for me by name. To find out she sold me some Aloe Vera products 2 years ago and wondered if I wanted some more? “And here is the price list”, I’ve never seen anyone ushered out of the kitchen so quickly; don’t think her feet touched the ground!!
Went out with son no 1, (the one who writes amusing blogs) for a few hours at lunchtime, and then transferred to son no 2 for another trip later on in the day, this one via a swimming pool (son and daughter, not unfortunately for me :-( ) and a quick trip to B&Q for essential supplies that all men need.
Somehow managed to find  another food angel during the afternoon that passed over a scrummy looking cottage pie, and a tray full of flapjacks! I am feeling very guilty now as don’t seem to be ill enough to warrant all these people cooking meals for the family.  However it is very much appreciated.
I have been given a web site of other ovarian cancer sufferers in the UK, (from Macmillan)  it’s a bit like a ‘blog’ site but so nice to hear peoples news and views, as well as useful tips to cope with chemo and it’s side effects.  Its called ovacome which I think says it all.
A lovely homemade lasagna (thanks) and a fruit pie (thanks)!!, rounded off the day nicely.
