Thursday 15th March

Just a quick update to my health and well-being...

My extremely modest and charming son Thomas has again decided to write on my behalf.  His last post was so funny that I had to send Stephen into the toilet to read it because his laughing made me laugh, and when I laugh It hurts so much that I think that my sides might literally split!

I'm still in the ward, but they have removed all the tubes so I'm feeling a lot happier because I no longer have to worry about tangling myself up.  With all those tubes (plus my hair) I resembled a spaghetti monster. I took 3 walks today down the corridor which was nice as I haven't been able to get out of bed much in the last few days.

Even though I did some light walking, my hopes of making it back for the Netball Inter Insular on Saturday at 10am have been dashed because Stephen has booked flights back for Sunday lunchtime.  I cant wait to get home because there's so much housework to be done, and a pile of ironing that "has my name written all over it".

As far as my current treatment, I'm having to take quite a few pills and have to have a daily injection.  Stephen has been taught how to inject me - apparently he is quite good, no doubt in part to his experience "stabbing cows"!

Big sister Sally came to see me today and it was really lovely to spend the whole day just talking as we haven't had a catch up in a while.  My private room is particularly nice and I have my own TV so I can watch all those rubbish TV shows that I enjoy in between naps and conversations.

I'm not allowed to do any aerobic sports for 12 weeks, but I am able to swim after 6.  I can't wait to start walking again because I'm obviously very keen to play sports and It's an annoyingly slow recovery. One day at a time..

  1. Well, I suppose no sport for a few weeks means plenty of time for ironing, but I'm sure you can find better things to do with your time! I hope you are pleased with your progress Jill, you are doing remarkably well, and being home again will only help that recovery. Tons of love.xxxx
