Sunday 9th September
Still feeling a little tired from yesterday’s festivities it took
me and hubby more than a few seconds to register that the ‘whirring, humming
sound that woke us up at 6am, was in fact a bat flying around our bedroom!! I
did what any wife would do under the circumstances and told him to ‘catch it’,
at which point it flew out of the bedroom and into the bathroom! Hubby (scantily clad, but we won’t go into
details) picked up a t-shirt and stealthily crept into the bathroom. Bear in
mind I am listening to the ensuing scenario from the safety of the bed. There
is a lot of fumbling and a few ‘swiping’ noises and then hubby descends the
stairs with the plant pot (plant still inside) covered with the aforementioned
t-shirt. He placed it smugly in the
middle of the patio, and quickly had to deal with the cat who for some reason
had decided to sit on the roof and was panicking at the thought that he may miss the opportunity
to be ‘let in’ the house for breakfast!!
Meanwhile I got up and went into the bathroom- safe in the
knowledge ‘Mr Bat’ has been dealt with, however I heard hubby come back up the
stairs and mutter an exclamation. It turns out that Batty is still flying around
the landing, and flits straight back into our bedroom!! I exited the bathroom, to see hubby stood in
the bedroom watching batty zooming round and round (it’s not a big room- he was
probably dizzy). I suggested hubby got back into bed if all he was going to do
was watch the bat….. and promptly left him to it.
You will all be pleased to know Mr Bat was humanely caught
and no harm or suffering was caused in the process. We do not need planning
coming around to tell us we have endangered bats……
Bats are legally protected in
Jersey and as such it is an offence to disturb a bat or bat roost. Having
bats does not mean you will be unable to undertake works on your property but
the bats do have to be taken into account.
With the sun shining hubby
and I decided to take Jessie out onto grouville beach for a walk and ‘meet
other dogs experience’- we let her off the lead and she was very well behaved
and made new friends ( although the Great Dane/Boxer cross 8month old puppy was
a bit scary!)
Back home and a quick cup of tea before driving out to St
Mary to collect my car, and from there I went to my Keep fit class at St Martins
School-first one of the new term.
Finished at 11.30am so whizzed to tennis club and was lucky
enough at get a ‘men’s double’ (OK, I know I’m not a man, but it was a great
match!!)
Driving home I wished I’d packed my costume, then remembered
I’d got a spare in the car, and my ‘hand towel’ from the keep fit class- so….basically
I got changed in the car, had a lovely swim and drove home in a wet costume!!
Fortunately for me only my daughter witnessed my arrival home-
but 10 minutes later 9 ‘friends’ of son D ‘dropped in’ for a cup of tea and
cake!
After lunch hubby and I had a discussion about grass cutting
and patio cleaning, I chose the latter (with Jessie’s help!)
All in all another good day- wish the mouth ulcers would go
away, I’ll ask the Doc for more mouth wash tomorrow when I go for pre-chemo
clinic blood tests.
My son
found this quote and thought it would be good for my blog, so including it
tonight.

"In any relationship it’s important to be a good
listener as well as a good communicator. Open, honest communication is the best
foundation for any relationship, but remember that at the end of the day it’s
not what you say or what you do, but how you make people feel that matters the
most. In order to make someone feel good about a relationship, they must know
that the other person truly cares about them, both personally and
professionally."
