Friday 31st August

Friday 31st August
Non-stop action today, felt really good so made the most of it… Doggy duties first thing, our ‘training/exercise sessions in the meadow at 7.45 proving very popular with the four legged friend!

Off to St John for three sets of tennis, that was fabulous and took photos to prove it! Still managed to leave with a huge dish of homemade shortbread, in return for a few plums- don’t think that’s a fair barter somehow…..

Home for lunch and a quick rest, couldn’t believe how warm it was in the front garden so thought I’d better cut the grass! Hour and half later started picking the vegetables for tea (and some extra for the ironing ‘lady’ SC- actually when she’s bossy, she’s more like the ‘Iron lady’!!!)

On the way back from Gorey I could not pass by Anne Port without stopping off for a dip in the sea, it was beautiful and so refreshing.

My daughter and I saw Jesus Christ Superstar tonight at the Opera House, it was utterly brilliant, the singing and acting was very very good, and with no interval, the orchestra were ‘flat out’ for nearly 2 hours! Well done to everyone, and if you get a chance- GO SEE IT and support our lovely local facility!

Thursday 30th August

Thursday 30th August
Yet another ‘good day’, many more to follow I hope! I went to a Pilates class this morning, not been for ages, and I really enjoyed it.

We had to go back to the hospital to pick up my injections which were ‘forgotten’ about yesterday, so ended up in town from 1.30- to 4.30pm! Included a visit to Maternity to see our neighbour VH who had a lovely baby girl on Monday, chatted to ‘mum’, but babe in SCBU, and so didn’t get to see her, all is well though and sure she’ll be out soon. Bought tickets from the Opera House to see Jesus Christ Superstar tomorrow, also we girls conducted in a bit of retail therapy, had to be done!

Son JL passed his Powerboat level 2 today, not pleasant in 25ft waves off Noirmont/St Brelade, but he lived to tell the tale!

Came back home and promptly fell asleep! Daughter had to wake me at 6.10pm as out for supper with the girls! Great evening at the ‘Green Olive’, many thanks to KH,DW,CleV,VM and ‘Rose’, good food and a good laugh- :-)

Wednesday 29th August

Wednesday 29th August
Other than my early morning ‘wake  up call,’  I had an excellent start to the day, two hours of superlative tennis plus, I came home with a HUGE fish Quiche and still warm homemade rock cakes!! Thanks AH , you should be on Masterchef, and a big thanks to SO and MP, who entertained me on and off the court! (BTW 6cm of Quiche left!!).

*BTW By the Way

Showered, lunch and headed into hospital ready for the ‘fuel up’ , had my lovely nurse HD,  it is going to be sad to lose her to the UK, but she will definitely better her career in the ‘move’ The Christie NHS Foundation Trust is located in Withington, Manchester, and is one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe. I wish her all the best, and I’m  quite sure she will come back and stun us all with her new found knowledge in the care and treatment in battling the disease.

It was very quiet in oncology today only three of us and no visitors, so I was more than happy to read and sleep most of the time away. It’s becoming harder to find good veins as I do seem to have had rather a lot of Cannula’s fitted lately. Nurse KB had a ‘brainwave’ and queried the carboplatinum administration time span of an hour- suggesting 30minutes should be sufficient, she checked it out and Lo! A reduction of 30 minutes- so I left the ward at 3.45!

I came home to a tidy house- thanks DL, (partly because the ‘renegades’ had been trashing it all afternoon and ‘teasing the dog ‘mercilessly’) . With supper sorted and no visitors I was glad to have another hour doze on the sofa.

Perked up after supper and ‘walked ‘Jessie in the field/meadow for 30 minutes before enjoying the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympics. (If you didn’t see ‘Best of Men’ iplayer it- worth watching)

Tuesday 28th August

Tuesday 28th August
So that would explain the tiredness then, low red blood count. It’s dropped from 10.3 to 9.6 – at least the white cells are still ok, as are the platelets. Not brilliant mind you, but enough to let me have the next Chemo tomorrow.

Inevitably I bumped into lots of people I knew in town; we had the usual disjointed ‘catch up’ conversations! I didn’t want to hang about in St Helier, the sun was shining and the tide was up!

Visitors this afternoon pretended they were interested in my welfare, but I know it was just a ruse to see the dog. So far she (puppy) has been introduced to various life experiences, the  hoover, mop, and we bathed her yesterday, and now, her first taste  of small children (not literally of course!) She seems to take it all in her stride, however the thing that does ‘stress’ her out is Billy the cat! She is seriously scared of the big ginger tom (lion) especially when his hackles are raised when they inadvertently ‘meet up’!
Loving the dew in the morning!

Monday 27th August

Monday 27th August
Feeling a little tired today, could be the early starts to the day , or I'm just packing a lot of stuff in!
Attempting to write tonight's blog on daughters iPad, so please excuse any errors, (same as most nights really!)
House work jobs this morning including soup making with our glut of courgettes, so far we seem to have had various recipes with courgettes hidden into them somehow, (chocolate courgette cake was quite successful!)That's a real recipe, and not a made up one!!
Went for a swim at the Merton,no aqua aerobics due to bank holiday,   but very nice and relatively quiet as it was a bit early for those holiday makers.
Yet another trip to the supermarket, but no hanging about, couldn't believe how busy it was at the Homemaker.
Lots of people dropped by this afternoon, all to see Jessie of course- although thanks GL, the rock cakes were so delicious (think there maybe two left!).

Sunday 26th August

Sunday 26th August
Three of the family headed off to St Ouen’s Church this morning for a 10am Baptism of my favourite two year old BV, she was brilliant, and it was not only a lovely service, but a great party afterwards!

Jessie was looked after by sons 1, 2 and 3, (actually since two of them were out last night and ‘worse for wear’ I think she looked after them!).

It actually got really warm this afternoon, so after arriving back in the East, I nipped down for a swim, the tide was just right, and conditions perfect. (Plus it got me out of the vegetable preparation!)

Let’s hope we have good bank holiday weather that can be enjoyed by everyone, and lots more chances to spend time on the beach before the summer is out.
