Wednesday 22nd August
6.30am garden/meadow walks this morning, a brusque wake-up
call, but I don’t mind! (Ask me when it’s dark and raining and I’ll be ‘singing
a different tune!!’
I met my friends on
the tennis court at 9am for a rousing two sets of focussed, fun, and a relaxed
match- thanks everyone.
Arrived at the hospital a little late, it was incredibly
busy and the 4 ‘best seats’ were not only taken, but had visitors/nurses around
them! So…..I had the ‘seat that no-one wants’ under the window, and in a draught…….humbug. Didn’t get going until 11.45am (could have played a 3rd
set- robbed!!), but nurse BG was so lovely and kind, he more than made up.
I do
appreciate all those nurses that are unfailing in their generous and
sympathetic nursing, as day in day out it must be really, really tough. Nobody
needs awkward demanding patients, (I feel bad enough when the ANC brings me hot
drinks on request and has to take the cling film off my soup as I was left –handed
today!
Results from bloods as follows-
Red cells 10.3 (ok- was 10.4)
White cells 3.6 (ok was 2.1)
Neutrophills (these are specialised white cells that fight
infection, need to be 1.5 and 7.00, they were 0.9 now 1.66-so ok)
Platelets 175 ( ok- were 165)
I didn’t ask about my CA125 marker- It was 6 (WOW!!) a
couple of weeks ago, and whilst it is bound to rise at some stage, providing it
stays below 35 and in the normal level I’ll be happy.
My
biggest nightmare is I'm driving home and get sick and go to hospital. I say:
'Please help me.' And the people say: 'Hey, you look like...' And I'm dying
while they're wondering whether I'm Barbra Streisand.
