Monday 30th

Monday 30th April
First little red poppy flower out in the garden today, beautiful.

A lovely Maufant friend visited today armed with pep-talks, presents and pragmatic advice, all of which was welcomed! Included in the ‘bag’ of goodies was a fantastic book called The Funniest Thing You Never Said, a collection of humorous quotations. This means that from now on at the end of each blog you will be subjected to ‘The quote of the day’- I know you’ll all look forward to that….
We had a somewhat blustery walk around Le Saie that blew a few cobwebs away, before she headed off to work and I drove to the Merton for a swim. It was perfect, only 3 people in the pool, the sun came out and I ‘drifted’ up and down the ‘lanes’ without too much exertion incorporating a little gentle exercise for about 15 minutes.
Had to pick up my daughter for her ‘swimming lesson’ that involved travelling all the way ‘out west’ to Les Ormes. In order to make the most of our extended trip we ended up visiting St Peters Nursery and Marks and Spencers on the way back, (more food shopping!)
My RFL has reached a whopping £2.110.00…….Thanks everyone.! 17 adults and 4 or 5 children in the 'team' so far !!

Sunday 29th April

Sunday 29th April
It did feel sooooo good to put my ‘keep fit’ LYCRA on today for the Sunday morning exercise class after 7 weeks of ‘no sports’! I was very sensible before you all throw up your hands in mock anguish at my recklessness. I took it very gently, a little jogging and no jumping, but very enjoyable all the same.
Didn’t venture outside again but cleaned out a few kitchen cupboards and recuperated on the sofa.
Looking forward to fitting a little light swimming into my timetable next week…….and of course some ‘afternoon tea’ with friends! Leading the life of Riley it seems…….

Saturday 28th April

Saturday 28th April
This morning I dragged a very reluctant hubby out for a ‘practice’ walk to prepare for next Sunday.
Our daughter dropped us at Devils Hole at 10am, and we followed the planned ‘route’ through the lanes towards Goose Green. I admit it was drizzling a bit, but we are hard core and strode on purposefully (at least he did, I walked 2 paces respectfully behind)! At noon we arrived at the Gunsite café, having decided to veer towards food and drink as opposed to a car park, pleased that we had covered 7 miles without too much effort!
Replenished we headed into town after negotiating a return lift, with a pick up point from the Lifeboat café. The round trip had been about 9 miles, so quietly pleased, though no doubt by tomorrow we will ‘feel’ it!!
A restful afternoon reading and drinking green tea, as need time to charge the battery before an evening out at the Ambassador, my first night out in over 7 weeks! Hold me back………

Friday 27th April

Friday 27th April
Had a right royal ticking off from my aunt, I have trouble with punctuation at the best of times, and when I started this blog I didn’t envisage so many people reading it, least of all her who ‘hates’ computers and before last month would only switch her PC on once a week! So after an English lesson (she was a teacher) I was warned I had better start ‘pulling my socks up’ and taking more care of apostrophes (or is that apostrophe’s!! Joke) and such like!!
Goodness, this is high stress levels; I dare not think of EVERYONE else who is out there, who catch up on my mundane comings and goings around this lovely Island of ours-too scary by far!!
A lovely walk with my Trinity friend around Queens Valley, twice, (well we had a lot of catching up to do and once around wasn’t long enough!) plus I need to get some ‘training’ before our Diabetes walk next Saturday.
Treated to lovely tea and a cake at Ransoms (twice in 2 days) I needed the sustenance before I steeled myself to visit Waitrose, yet MORE food shopping.
An appointment with the hair dresser this afternoon proved enlightening. I took along Ursula and Shirley (my 2 wigs), so she could ‘view and assess’. In the beginning I received lots of helpful advice and suggestions at ways that the wigs could be worn, cut, or slightly altered. Generally a sympathetic ear, however this was short-lived, and the ‘true’ colours were shown. Later when my hair was being trimmed (references to ‘poodles’ odd shaped heads etc.), it transpires that as I won’t have any hair, she will in effect not receive any business from me- well it went downhill from there!! Back to the usual derogatory remarks and cheekiness!! Its ok we parted friends, and despite this I highly recommend her as a first rate hair dresser!

Race for Life .......Thank you, thank you, over £2000.00  WOW
Comments on blog, comments on RFL .....Priceless!

Thursday 26th April
Countryside Report for the parish of St Martin:
Finally able to get outside and WALK today, first time since Saturday, and very pleasant too despite the strong wind. It’s important that everyone is kept up to date with the latest wildlife developments in my lovely parish, so I am pleased to inform you that I saw plenty of plant and bird life, including some Bugloss, Common Vetch and possibly 3 different types of Campion (Red, White and Sea).
Bugloss

Red Campion
Such an educational blog today, I hope that you inwardly digest this information, take note of the pictures and hopefully be able to impress people should the need ever arise….. ;-)
Had coffee with lovely St Mary friend today, very enjoyable, followed by quick visit to Caesearen Tennis Club, (not unfortunately to play tennis, sadly)but to meet a friend for coffee, saw a few familiar faces which was nice.
Finished the day with yet more socialising, this time with colleagues from work for a cup of tea at Ransoms!! The excuse was a ‘friends’ birthday (although she’s not really a friend- more of an acquantaince  and a bit of a ‘witch’ if the truth be known.)…………LOL

Wednesday 25th April

Wednesday 25th April
Sitting in the conservatory with the rain hammering on the windows, having just said ‘goodbye’ to son no 2 who is off to work, and obviously in for a very busy night shift.
Took myself off to doctor this morning as needed another sick note, and picked up a prescription for some eye cream(think eye lash infections are one of drug ‘side effects’).
The St Brelade food Angel did some shopping on her way to mine, and then we ‘cooked’, well she did bake a large chocolate cake, and I did make some soup, accompanied by plenty of chat.
We were interrupted by two cold, wet, and very hungry boys at 1pm (the same two from yesterday!)
Vat sized portions of macaroni cheese hurriedly made sated their appetite for a few hours- It was amazing to think they had been diving at Bouley Bay with the weather so rough.
I don’t know where the afternoon went- I did entertain a ‘blind’ man in my bedroom, (take that whichever way you want…) as we have been in the house 3 years and still don’t possess blinds for the windows.
I have been in contact with Magic Touch as regards T-shirts for the Race for Life, and they have the logo that Son. No 2 designed, with ‘team name’. I am buying some t-shirts at £10 each for the family to wear on the day, If anybody wants to, and please, please  do not feel obliged , they will be able purchase one for themselves. ;-)
