Monday 2nd April
I was driven into town early this morning by daughter to do
a bit of ‘girlie’ shopping, important things like nail varnish, and birthday
presents, however she severely restricted my ‘buying’ capabilities as she being
the ‘bag’ lady said she would only carry
two bags and they had to be only light stuff! I was not even allowed a basket
in M&S as she said I didn’t need one for a loaf of bread and hot cross
buns! Outrageous!!
I received another book in the post today about ‘what food
to eat to fight cancer’ apart from the obvious fruit and green vegetables, I am
sad to say that from now on only small quantities of dark chocolate, however
the good news is a glass of red wine a day is fine !!! (Purely medicinal of
course)
To date 6,712 have read my blog since it started (and no, it’s
not just me logging on to read about myself- thank you). I have received over
70 get well/thinking of you cards, and I have lost count of the number of
people who have passed on messages to my family wishing me a speedy recovery.
The trip to the Oncology department at the General went very
well; both the Doctor and Nurse answered all my bizarre and random questions
and explained the whole of the chemo procedure very clearly. I have permission to fly over to the UK next
Tuesday for 8 days to see my family, which I am SO pleased about(secretly I think
my Jersey family are breathing a sigh of relief and are pleased to get rid of
me for a week with my constant demands !!!
This will not delay the start of my chemo as with the bank
holidays they do not have a spare ‘slot’ next week anyway. I am booked in for
the 19th April at 9am (providing my pre chemo blood test I had today
is ok).
Thanks has to be given to my adopted daughter for her delicious
Chicken Filo Pie and Potato combo, such a lovely treat and such talent …… any
time she feels the need to cook, we’ll eat it !!
(By the way hubby is not telling people I am away next week
so they still bring food around, and when questioned he will explain that ‘I am
asleep or resting’ but I have a large appetite!)
DON’T BE FOOLED
The money raised for the Race for life so far is £170 …..
How amazing is that?!!!
Thank you to all who have already signed up to walk/run/push
with me on the 27th, and many, many thanks for the donations. :-)
Having seen your hair yesterday, it looks AMAZINGLY good, and you, utterly gorgeous. Have a brilliant time away with your family and well done on the fund raising so far. Man, that's a fabby amount for only a few days!!xx
