First bit of bad news today, was it the result of the latest
blood test? (not as good as I hoped) was it the anti-sickness drugs not
working, or was it having to sit down for 7 hours? None of the above, the axe I
have grind is THERE WAS NO INTERNET ACCESS,
yes, shocking I know, the pain I felt in knowing I couldn’t watch the last two
series of Silent Witness……..unbearable!!
The chemo was very much secondary to all the ‘catch up’
plans I had organised for today’s entertainment!! (Ok, minor fib)
Ironically when Son no2 visited during the morning he made
comment on the excellent chairs used in the ward. It turns out he is part of
the St Martins Bonfire Committee that raised £15,000 for the Jersey Cancer
Trust in November last year. That money has gone towards the refurbishment of
the ward and the very comfy chair I’m sitting in now. Never thought his mum
would be using them 6 months later………….;-(
Had very tasty bowl of soup for lunch, broccoli and stilton,
strong enough taste to mask the ‘metal mouth’ I had with drugs and good way of
passing the time…..
The good news is I’ve done a bit of networking, trying to
get one of the lovely young single nurses interested in my sons (well, she has
a choice of 3- one of them has to fit the bill!!), plus a good recommendation from
a carpet fitter, excellent news as will be needing new stair carpet shortly,
and If he doesn’t do a good job I can harass every 3 weeks until August!
9 till 4.30 was a long day, but needed to get out in the
fresh air for a walk around the block when I got home, another student tea was
in progress, this means that 2 sons ‘find’ different things to cook that they
fancy, then add others foods as they go along. It really ends up like Master
chef, or ‘dine with me’ or even Ready Steady Cook’ ( on the more basic level).
All the cooked food then gets served on the table with a
final flourish where they then spend the entire meal, belittling each other’s
fare, comparing notes and general jesting. No matter that fish, burgers, pasta ‘salad’,
(no salad- didn’t think sweetcorn counted) and new potatoes combined with each
other!!!!!
(I opted for my own salad) ……Bless them..
As my little bro says one down five to go......
That was bit of a pain-no Silent Witness-my favourite. Watched part 2 of the one I missed while we were in uk yesterday!!! One down as you say-but a long day for you today. Glad you got out once you got home. I took Daisy & Jamie to Samares Manor after school-it was so peaceful. Just watched Come Dine With Me which I like-now in bed as boys now in charge of tv box!!! lots of love xx

ReplyDeleteGood morning, glad no 1 done. As parts of my stair carpet held together with duck tape I need a carpet fitter too! Let me know how you get on!!! Can just imagine supper time! Family times, can't beat them.Off to nursery this morn so best go and get ready, takes a while! love and hugs, WW xxx
ReplyDeleteThought of you all day yesterday as I painted panels for the barn dance. Your song "They shoot me down, but I won't fall, I am Titaaaaaaaaneeeeeeuuuuuuum" came on, I turned it up and the painting went a bit berserk. It's quite tricky painting, singing very loud and dancing at the same time! Good you've got the first session over with. xxxx
ReplyDeleteWelldone to you, glad the first one's done. Positive stuff. Keep smiling and try and avoid the boys cooking, always a good idea. xxx
