Well...just like her Mum, the dog is recovering from her "op" at a rate of knots.....but (fortunately) Mum didn't wee in her bad in her first night home from hospital! Jessie has made great strides, especially this afternoon....she's almost been getting up other usual tricks of chasing light reflections around the kitchen. We eventually managed to get her to take some pills this morning...but only after dad forced her mouth open and placed the pills on the back of her tongue...she didn't seem too upset. It may well be that the pills are what has improved her so much this afternoon. We think (hope) that it will be fairly plain sailing from her onwards....especially given that we aren't really allowed to "let her loose" for about 10 days....who's taking bets that she'll be belting around on her own after a small week?
Someone who wasn't moving at a rate of knots today was the Baristaman...who was due to go off to the Ecrehous today....it didn't happen...they brought the boat around from town this morning but decided that it really wasn't quite good enough to go. It must be really frustrating to have to concede to the weather week after week.....we just hope that the wind drops down soon so the boys can get some trips in.....Dan hasn't really had a chance to do much so far this year.
Tom and Dan have been back in the meadow this afternoon....all chainsawed up (the small saw that is, the big saw is still waiting for parts), they set off to liberate some more paths that have had trees fallen over them in the mast few months. Who knows what we will find has gone on down there.....we suspect that shortly there will be fires that will have been started....luckily we have a fireman in the family....he can call in to say "I know it looks ;like it's out of control, but it'll be okay in half an hour or so....please don't send any shiny fire engines from town".
The "rents" also took the opportunity to spend a little time in the garden this afternoon....the weather is just starting to improve enough for them to start "pottering". Dad was muttering something about parsnips.....but we're not quite sure what that means.....probably that he's planted or sown some we presume.
Grand National this afternoon.....and (along with everyone else on the planet) no one in the hosue had heard of the winner (we've already forgotten it)....and certainly hadn't put any money on it.
Bex has had a chilled day...recovering from her exams of yesterday....and no Waitrose for her this evening.
Dog sitters this evening will be Bex and Tom....everyone else is out.
