we actually got Daniel in a boat today.....6 people to the Ecrehous for a tour by Jersey Seafaris (crewed by the Barista Boy)....he said it was really good....so we assume the sea must have been better than it looked. He's back working on dry land tomorrow... coffeemaking in town for him. Jack is back fighting fires for the first time that anyone around here can remember tomorrow as well. He'll be in bed early so he can be up with the lark......as will Bex....who has to leave a little earlier tomorrow. She's been working out the last possible time that she can leave home and still get to work in time.....and this morning she timed it a little too fine.
Dad has his first early meet for a while tomorrow and is meeting Mum after lunch for the visit to the hospital....the first since officially being put on "three month check ups".
There was more gorse clearance done today...but in typical fashion we had some breakdowns. The chainsaw really got so bad that we stopped using it....and got out the good old hand tools. There nothing like a good hand saw and a sickle for getting things done. dad and Jack actually made excellent progress.....but Tom fared less well when one function on the digger suddenly stopped working. The engine cover was soon off (we could do it with our eyes closed now) and a linkage break was diagnosed as the problem.....and then we noticed the oil leaking on to one of the tracks. It wasn't long before the source of the leak was discovered....and fixed. Tom manufactured another linkage and we were ready to go again....but then Dad had to go off to a meeting in town and the "boys" decided that the weather was "going off" and, rather than get wet, they'd pack up in good time. So that's it for now...with everyone back to work tomorrow we doubt that there'll be much more done for few days....and then only when the weather improves.
Tom and Dad have fixed the (very) hot water machine in the kitchen.....Mum had actually called the company that we bought the kitchen from to ask who serviced the water heater. When she relayed the name of the service agent to Dad the air went a little blue....and the job was destined to be attempted "in house". We say attempted because Dad isn't 100% convinced that the repair will last long. A bowl has been left in the cupboard under the heater....if it's still dry in the morning we'll assume it's fixed....for now!
we have "Barely Legal Drivers" on th tele as we type tonight. the bots are all relaying stories about driving....like the time that Tom and Dan drove across England with only a packet of Starburst (that's Opal fruits to you old people) for sustinance....but hey, some of these drivers on the box really are NOT GOOD. How did they ever pass a test? but then we have the best male drivers in Jersey living in our house!
There'll be plenty of news for the blog tomorrow....stay tuned.
