Tonight's excitement has been provided by the Barista...who's been off playing lifeboats this evening. His pager went of conveniently (we were about to allocate washing up duties) with a "crew assemble" signal.....off he went. As Bex said to Ma, "does it remind you of the old days Mum, when Dad used to get a callout and disappear at the drop of a hat?". Oh yes....we've been there before. It transpires that the "crew assemble" quickly turned into a "launch lifeboat", and as Dan was "on station" he got to go. It turned out to be a couple of kayakers off the North coast that had been pushed out to sea by the wind, and couldn't return. They were being picked up by a passing fisherman as the lifeboat arrived on scene. All's well that ends well......and Dan was back home to a second supper by 9....guess he thought he deserved it!
Today Jack has become a person who has had to fill in an insurance claim (for his first time).....that "entertained" us over the dinner table.....Jack said he was so angry by the time he had finished that he wasn't hungry....that's how bad it was! It turned out earlier today that, despite thinking his car was undamaged, he had had some front axle "realignment", and that one front wheel stuck out rather more than the other. A visit to the garage followed, and the news wasn't what Jack wanted to hear.....in true Luce fashion, some parts need to be ordered....but it wasn't as simple as that. Jack had to make a call and arrange to go and see the "third party".....it was all good, but he now has to go through the procedure of submitting the claim (even though it wasn't his fault).....hence the grumpy fireman. Welcome to the real world Jacko!
As for the others of us......Mum has done Mumthings again today....and she's off doing some unnamed sport this evening.
Bex has been continuing her good work at ITEX, but this evening is starting to get stressed about a BIG presentation she has to do at College on Friday. She's booked dad for a practice session tomorrow evening....
Tom is doing the normal Tom thing......off watching football at somone else's house....he and Jack did manage some gorse clearance this afternoon.
Dad finished the States at lunchtime....but only got back home mid afternoon. He has had posters for "Option B" to prepare this evening, and a breakfast meeting tomorrow....after which he tells us he's "off on the campaign trail" trying to get people to vote in his beloved referendum......so good luck to him!
Jessie has her staples removed tomorrow....but looking at the way she has been springing about today there's not much wrong with her.....full of beans doesn't get close to her current activity levels....we suspect she's been missing her long walks, but she should be back to normal exercise routines next week. Did we say "full of beans"?.......judging by the smells coming from the other end of the kitchen she really is full of beans!! How does anything that's still alive manage to create such a wiff? We should bottle it and sell it to schoolchildren...stinkbombsRus...we'd be retiring to the Bahamas in 5 minutes flat.
