Thursday 31st May

Thursday 31st May
Just come off skype tonight after a lengthy ‘pep’ talk from ‘big brother’, he has all the answers and is always right. (Annoyingly he is mostly right but I’ve proved him wrong once or twice)! Still, I know he has my best interests at heart, and it is his duty after all to look after his ‘little sister’ come hell or high water (which first I wonder, we are on an Island…..)

I had a nice easy day today, some light Pilates this morning and a lovely massage by GB at Studio 21 in town, highly recommended (also very good for your mental wellbeing) No comments needed thank you!!

My daughters very last day at school tomorrow, quite an emotional day for everyone I think.

Wednesday 30th May

Wednesday 30th May
I don’t seem to be able to grasp the concept of ‘taking it easy’, you see my idea of rest and relaxation means a spot of gardening or a ‘spring clean’ in the house, or limiting myself to only one sporting activity in the day, not exactly the view held by most of the population!

Well I checked in at Rozel ward this morning and had bloods taken again, and the good news is those white cells have zoomed up from 0.59 to 5.04, heavens know what was in those injections but it worked!!! The throat and mouth are much improved due to the antibiotics and mouth wash, just as well my tennis partners tonight didn’t ask for a ‘dope’ test!!

After the hospital I whizzed into town and ‘bumped’ into the lady that hubby and I met at our radio jersey interview last week, she is recovering from stomach cancer and doing really well, anyway in our brief conversation, and (as only women can) we covered a wide range of subjects and I will contact her to meet up for a coffee soon.

OVER £5.000 ........INCREDIBLE!!!!

Tuesday 29th May

Tuesday 29th May
What a ‘rollercoaster’ of emotions I’m having on this ‘journey’- a real adventure, I’ve been on top of mountains and pot holing underground…. (Metaphorically speaking) and not quite halfway through yet….. I must say it is so uplifting meeting so many people out there in this small island that spur me on in so many ways. I think I am reasonably equipped for whatever obstacles I face. I have stout walking boots; insect repellent, waterproof tent, compass etc., but sometimes I misplace things or lose my way and then somebody comes along and picks me and sets me right again. ;-) Thanks.

Thanks go to the kind (young) ladies at my Zumba class this morning that added to the ‘money pot’ that is Cancer Research UK, (tonight standing at £4850), and the donation that has been sent through the post.

I kept out of the sun today, and took it easy, looked at the photos on ‘This Is Jersey’ page, there are a few faces I recognise, shame we didn’t take more photos ourselves, but it certainly was an excellent day!

I had to go into town this afternoon, and I swear I saw a uniformed policeman walking down Queen Street swinging his truncheon……………(at least I think it was his truncheon)..... was that necessary I asked myself!

The boys have been fishing again today (hunter-gathers in the fog) and this evening I feasted on freshly caught Bream, last night it was Mullet, and before that Mackerel, so it’s just as well I like fish!!

Monday 28th May

Monday 28th May

Mental note to oneself - Don’t go and have your bloods taken at the hospital at 9am on a Monday morning - You will be beaten back by the blue rinse brigade! They were already on number 42 when I arrived at 8.55am and then I made the faux pas of collecting two tickets stubs simultaneously - rookie error, and as I nonchalantly sat down hiding my double ticket in my hand I realized I had not even brought a book or kindle with me - disaster.

Thought I’d stick it out until at least my pay card was up and did a spot of people watching. There was the comedian worker who did a folding/tearing trick with a square of kitchen towel, he was faintly amusing, as was the smartly dressed lady who took a ticket, then perhaps ten minutes later stood up and took another ticket….

Fortunately my number came up and bloods were taken with enough time for me to still go to my aqua aerobics class! One of the ladies unfortunately had a ‘costume malfunction’ midway through the class, when part of the wiring from her swimming costume ended up coming adrift and nearly poking her eye out! As she quipped afterwards (she is naturally well endowed) “It nearly burst my implants” much hilarity ensued.

Took my second trip into hospital this afternoon for a chat with the oncology doctor and to discuss the results from the earlier blood tests. Bad news first - I am Neutropenic - Now lots of you who know me wont be surprised by this statement but for those uninitiated among you it basically means my white blood cells have dropped through the floor. I have a very sore mouth and throat so guessed I was fighting off some infection.  Anyway the remedy to this is an immediate injection followed by another one tomorrow (administered by hubby) plus a course of antibiotics. I have to go back to the hospital on Wednesday for more bloods to be taken so chemo can go ahead Friday as planned. Now the good news - My CA125 Blood test is 19 - YES 19! Down again from 94! ‘Fab-u-lous’. I had to wait nearly an hour for the prescription but as luck would have it I realized the lady with the beautiful bandana was none other than J LE M. Now to give you a visual, there’s me three quarter jeans, pink t-shirt, pick cotton bandana, looking a little ‘country bumpkin from spud fields’ and the apparition in front of me wearing a delicate floral bandana, beautifully made-up with a fresh cotton sundress and open toed sandals - no comparison. I need to take a leaf out of her book! However it was good to chat and share chemo experiences.

Now the shocking news is my donation page is still increasing, how marvelous is that? Now standing at £4800 and such lovely comments too. So all in all a mixed day of highs and lows - so much for my  - non talking day - to rest my sore mouth! LOL! Onwards and upwards!

Sunday 27th May

Sunday 27th May
RACE FOR LIFE!!!
Such a brilliant day, the weather was perfect and my ‘team’ were fantastic!!
I was nervously excited and was pleased that hubby was there to set up the banner with no 2 son and my daughter. All wearing the t-shirts that were emblazoned with my name, and reading all the little ‘messages’ on the backs of people’s shirts was pretty emotional too.
So many people have donated on and off-line to not only my ‘just giving’ page but to lots of my team members so while I am unsure of our joint total amount, I know that currently the amount stands at £4.575, a truly staggering amount of money .
So to each and every one of you I would like to say a big heartfelt THANK YOU, and sorry to ST who after I lent her a ‘pink’ tinsel wig had pink hands and face………(it was quite funny…)
We had a lovely lunch at THE bar with some of the team (thanks N and P), and then enjoyed the rest of the afternoon doing some gardening- a truly memorable day.
I'm the one with the straight pink wig in the middle!!

Saturday 26th May

Saturday 26th May
Nice day for my sister-in-laws birthday, and for all those hard working people that can’t enjoy the sun in the week!
Visited a friend at her home in Grouville this morning, nice to see her and her busy family and drop off a baby present (and I got a cuddle)!
Spent most of the day doing garden jobs and resting so I can enjoy the Hoedown Showdown this evening at the RJA and HS, the cowboy hat at the ready! All in aid of the love hearts appeal and Great Ormond Street Hospital.

We’ve smashed another target – total stands at £4.105.00- UTTERLY UNBELEVABLE…… Looking forward to meeting my ‘team’ under the Jilly Luce banner tomorrow somewhere between the Radisson and the upturned boat!!!
