Monday 28th May

Monday 28th May

Mental note to oneself - Don’t go and have your bloods taken at the hospital at 9am on a Monday morning - You will be beaten back by the blue rinse brigade! They were already on number 42 when I arrived at 8.55am and then I made the faux pas of collecting two tickets stubs simultaneously - rookie error, and as I nonchalantly sat down hiding my double ticket in my hand I realized I had not even brought a book or kindle with me - disaster.

Thought I’d stick it out until at least my pay card was up and did a spot of people watching. There was the comedian worker who did a folding/tearing trick with a square of kitchen towel, he was faintly amusing, as was the smartly dressed lady who took a ticket, then perhaps ten minutes later stood up and took another ticket….

Fortunately my number came up and bloods were taken with enough time for me to still go to my aqua aerobics class! One of the ladies unfortunately had a ‘costume malfunction’ midway through the class, when part of the wiring from her swimming costume ended up coming adrift and nearly poking her eye out! As she quipped afterwards (she is naturally well endowed) “It nearly burst my implants” much hilarity ensued.

Took my second trip into hospital this afternoon for a chat with the oncology doctor and to discuss the results from the earlier blood tests. Bad news first - I am Neutropenic - Now lots of you who know me wont be surprised by this statement but for those uninitiated among you it basically means my white blood cells have dropped through the floor. I have a very sore mouth and throat so guessed I was fighting off some infection.  Anyway the remedy to this is an immediate injection followed by another one tomorrow (administered by hubby) plus a course of antibiotics. I have to go back to the hospital on Wednesday for more bloods to be taken so chemo can go ahead Friday as planned. Now the good news - My CA125 Blood test is 19 - YES 19! Down again from 94! ‘Fab-u-lous’. I had to wait nearly an hour for the prescription but as luck would have it I realized the lady with the beautiful bandana was none other than J LE M. Now to give you a visual, there’s me three quarter jeans, pink t-shirt, pick cotton bandana, looking a little ‘country bumpkin from spud fields’ and the apparition in front of me wearing a delicate floral bandana, beautifully made-up with a fresh cotton sundress and open toed sandals - no comparison. I need to take a leaf out of her book! However it was good to chat and share chemo experiences.

Now the shocking news is my donation page is still increasing, how marvelous is that? Now standing at £4800 and such lovely comments too. So all in all a mixed day of highs and lows - so much for my  - non talking day - to rest my sore mouth! LOL! Onwards and upwards!
