Wednesday 9th May
Somewhat sobering start to the day as watched clips from
Great Ormond Street hospital programme that was on last night. Parents having to make huge decisions about
which course of treatment to give their sick child, or instances where the
doctors just do not know what action to take next.
(Hubby and I are attending the
Hoe Down, Show Down at the RJA & HS on 26th May, in aid of Gt
Ormond St, there are tickets available)
We arrived at the States this morning at 10.15am for a short
service before being escorted down to Liberation Square, where a very moving
service of Remembrance was conducted.
Fortunately the rain held off and although a little windy it
was perfect for the whole service. We had a lunch with over 100 people at the
Ambassador Hotel, again good to see so many familiar faces, (most of them St
Martin!) and it finished up with a sing-song!!
A long day but none-the-less most enjoyable and I felt privileged
to be able to be part of it.
“Nothing in life is so exhilarating as to be shot at without
result”
Winston Churchill
So pleased the weather was nice for everyone. Listened to the service on the radio, wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGlad the rain held off for the service etc. My boys were marching with sea cadets. Looking forward to seeing you next week. xxxxx
