Monday 9th July
I didn’t feel quite as ‘chipper’ this morning- thought it
must be an ‘overdose’ of green kale with my omelette that wasn’t sitting in my
stomach to well!! (Hardly surprising I hear you cry!)
It didn’t stop me going to aqua aerobics so it can’t have
been THAT bad, however by the time I came in for lunch I wasn’t feeling hungry
(unheard of!), and went straight to bed and sleep. I knew I had my hospital
appointment at 3pm, so got up and made myself beautiful (!!!!) By this time my
stomach was going like a washing machine on full spin, and without going into
great details things were not good!
I had my photo shoot in the oncology department, taken by a
very nice young man who said I had good skin tone (steroids!) and was very
photogenic (grinning inanely)- and I should take up modelling!!! (A ruse that
photographers often use!).
I did eventually have my bloods taken (main reason for
hospital trip!) and went into see the doctor…
I really am going to need a scribe when I have these visits-
I can’t retain any information and the more it is explained the more confused I
get (simple mind)!
Sadly I cannot have my chemotherapy on Friday as planned
because my ‘clotting’ blood count is to low apparently a ‘side effect’ of my
particular cocktail of drugs, just a passage of time will hopefully pick it up.
My red blood cells are still really low 8.9 (they were 8.6)
so not a huge change but not brilliant either. (Talk of blood transfusion if I
become ‘breathless’), but I am fine except when I try to run!!
They have received an email back from the Royal Marsden as
regards my last CT, and while it doesn’t go into great detail, (it doesn’t
mention the enlarged gland in the abdomen) it does however state that the very
small ‘node’ in my armpit has shrunk slightly- and on that basis they suggest a
mammogram.
Now for anyone who knows me this could be a physical impossibility,
you do have to have breasts in the first place, and unless I can actually climb
into the machine I don’t know how they are going to manage it!! I have had one
before (that actually took two attempts, as the ‘image’ was non-existent!)
On an entirely different note, this evening we all went to
St Martin School to have a photo taken ready for the next edition of the Parish
Magazine, getting all six of us there looking reasonably presentable is no mean
feat! Two photo shoots in one day – move over Katie Price- Oh, and can I ‘borrow’
just SOME of your chest?!........
Calamity n.
A more than commonly plain and unmistakable reminder that
the affairs of this life are not of our own ordering.

Sorry to hear you cannot have your planned chemo on friday. I thought they gave kale to rabbits !! I think Katie Price has enough to share some of her chest to both of us !! Your blog always makes me smile-you are truly AMAZING. Big hugs xx
ReplyDeleteMaybe they've got a mini mammogram?
