Sunday 15th July
Not only St Swithin’s day but also my little brothers
birthday (49) big one next year! We did have a smattering of rain showers today
but sure that doesn’t count, we’ve had 40 days of rain already in the last two
months and more!!!
I actually got out on the tennis court this morning, so wonderful
to hit a ball and be outside, easy gentle tennis so all good fun. Lunch and
short rest/sleep before all the excitement of the Parish Torch relay.
All the runners looked fantastic jogging up the road with
their matching T-shirts, and very proudly entered the Village Green at the allotted
time. Son’s no2 and 3 did their bit and hubby and daughter provided back up and
refreshments. A huge amount of hard work went into organising the ‘afternoon tea’, that
the least I could do was help with the washing up in the Public Hall
afterwards.
“My favourite sport in the Olympics is the one in which you make
your way through the snow, you stop, you shoot a gun, and then you continue on.
In most of the world it is known as the biathlon, except in New York City,
where it is known as winter.” Michael Ventre
