Saturday 26th January
Another riveting Saturday night in the Luce household- hubby
is asleep on the sofa, after getting up at 4.30am to support the ‘Women’s
Refuge’ 25hour sleepover in the window of Voisins department store. They asked
for men volunteers to stand outside and help promote awareness. He did a stint Friday
night and then a very early slot this morning.
Understandably it has
all caught up with him, especially as we had a long dog walk on the beach this
morning and then proceeded to clean out the greenhouse- a job that needed a dry
sunny day!
I went off to play Pentanque this afternoon and wished I
hadn’t- I was RUBBISH, and got whitewashed by two ‘ladies’. They are both
golfers, I’m not sure what that’s got to do with it, but I think they are used
to lining up very small balls!!!
I came back and hoovered out the car, before taking jess out
for her second walk, it’s so nice to still have light in the sky at 5pm.
I am putting out a request for a charity called’ Island
Friends Together’ , it is run by my doctor at the hospital and is primarily to
help build and maintain a school and orphanage in Sri Lanka destroyed by the tsunami.
I know that he is amassing equipment and clothes/toys ready to take a shipment
over in February. I will find out more details and should anyone have anything
spare or unwanted please donate it – I know it will be gratefully received.
“For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day.
For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.
People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms.
As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.”

I'm sure we've all got something we can donate and that our friends will have too.
